This dinner gathering will build on our previous event, where we highlighted the power and presence of Black single motherhood, exploring how it has supported our families, communities, and the nation. We recognized the political strength that comes from being a single Black mother.
Looking ahead, we will meet on Saturday, November 9th, from 5 to 7 PM. Regardless of the election outcomes or who holds office at the local and national levels, we will unite to discuss our next steps. In the meantime, I encourage you to read Dani McClain’s book, “We Live for the We: The Political Power of Black Motherhood” as it will be a valuable resource for our gathering on 11/9. This will be offered in a hybrid format, with both in-person and virtual options for those unable to attend in person. Please RSVP at motheringatalbertas@gmail.com for more information.
Are you a Black single mother? We welcome anyone who identifies as Black, female, and has experienced single motherhood, whether with young or adult children. This space is intergenerational. If you are a single mother who has recently partnered but primarily identifies with the experience of Black single motherhood and wishes to connect and help nurture this vision, please reach out to me at motheringatalbertas@gmail.com
